Darwin Rothchild

A toy line about robot warfare needed someone to have built the robots, and this is the character invented for the job: an industrialist who designed and sold the war machines to both sides and then withdrew to the Moon, where nobody could reach him. He never appeared as a mass-release figure of the kind the robots did, which is part of why the entry exists — the fiction is documented here as carefully as the products.

That is not a detail for completists. The paint schemes, the unit designations, the nicknames and the faction colours all come out of this backstory, and without it a shelf of figures is a set of colour variants. With it, the same shelf is two armies equipped by one supplier — which is the reading the whole line was designed to produce, and the reason its naming looks like a company's parts catalogue rather than a toy range.
