Notice how carefully this entry hedges: the figure was photographed in the smaller scale, and the rest is rumour. That wording is the honest state of knowledge for a good part of this range, because releases were announced in photographs and on forums before, and sometimes instead of, any catalogue — and a picture of a painted sample is not a promise that it shipped.

Retailer exclusives are where this bites hardest. A figure made for one shop, in one market, in a small run, may never be listed anywhere the rest of the world can read, so the only surviving evidence is a photograph and a recollection. A reference page that separates what was confirmed from what was rumoured is more useful than one that resolves the doubt, and the doubt itself is part of the record for anyone trying to work out whether a piece for sale is what the seller says it is.
